Skimmark

In development. macOS, Windows and Linux planned.

A calm Markdown reader for files your agents keep rewriting.

Skimmark is a small Markdown reader and editor for people whose AI agents write Markdown all day. It is designed to reload in place, keep your spot, and show what changed since you last looked.

Coming soon. There is nothing to download yet.

What it does

All planned for v1.

  • Live reload that keeps your place

When an agent rewrites the open file, the page is designed to update in place and keep your reading position.

  • What changed since you last looked

Planned to highlight blocks added or changed since you last marked the file seen. No git needed.

  • Clean saves

Fix a line on the rendered page. The goal: lines you did not edit stay byte-for-byte the same, so agent and git diffs stay small.

  • Terminal first

Planned: run skimmark plan.md to open a file in a tab. Double-click and drag are planned too.

  • Front matter as a table

Planned to show the YAML header at the top of a file as a small key and value table, not raw text.

Who it is for

If Claude Code, Codex or similar tools write your plans, handoffs and notes as .md files, Skimmark is built for reading them.

It is not a notes vault, a long-form writing app, a code editor, or a tool for team editing. Those jobs have good tools already.

How it is meant to work

Planned.

  1. Install the app, once it ships.
  2. Run skimmark plan.md, or double-click a file.
  3. Let your agent keep writing. Read what changed, then mark it seen.

Pricing

Planned: $14.99 one-time. 14-day trial. Up to 3 devices. Free 1.x updates.

Planned pricing, may change before launch.

Questions

Is Skimmark available yet?
Not yet. It is in development.
Which platforms?
macOS, Windows and Linux are planned for v1.
Does it use AI?
No. There are no AI features in the app. It is built for reading files that AI tools write.
Does it send my files anywhere?
No. Planned v1 makes two kinds of network call: the license check, and the update check and download. The update check sends no user, device or license data. No telemetry.
Will it change my file formatting?
The goal is no: lines you did not edit stay the same. If a file cannot be saved cleanly, editing turns off for that file. This is planned for v1.
Is it open source?
No.
How much will it cost?
Planned: $14.99 one-time, with a 14-day trial and up to 3 devices. Pricing may change before launch.
